Testimonials

“I worked with Greg at Lucidia for 5 years. He is a passionate, extremely talented writer and creative director. No matter the project or complexity of the product, Greg digests, ask questions, does research and drives the creative from concept to execution. He is excellent when presenting his ideas to clients and can always answer the "why" behind the creative. He's a leader and mentor and it has been a true pleasure working with him and learning from him. Any employer would be fortunate to have him on their team.”

— Tiana Trutenko, Vice President, Digital Agency Services, Lucidia (at the time)

“I worked with Greg on the Microsoft account at Wunderman for around 3 years, and I have to say, his work really impressed me. Microsoft projects are often copy-driven, and to develop a campaign successfully, they require an ability to digest and understand products that are often technically complex. Not every writer out there can do that. Greg jumped in there from day one, and really knocked it out of the park—and did so day-in, day-out on a consistent basis. He's also very easy to get along with, which made working with him fun, and my life easier as the senior writer on the Microsoft account.”

— John Tracey, Senior Copywriter, Wunderman (at the time)

“Greg Smart has an uncanny ability to conceptualize and articulate a brand’s message in a creative manner, while at the same time being results and client orientated. Guiding his creative process is his genuine desire to see a job well done and stand behind his work. He facilitates a collaborative team dynamic and inspires others to strive for the same level of quality as his own. He is overall a pleasure to work with, and I look forward to the opportunity to work with him again.”

— Laura Disano, Senior Client Strategist, Lucidia (at the time)

Greg is the copywriter to hire if you want the job done. And done well. His ideas are well thought out. His ability to work alongside others is amazing. His headlines are witty. His body copy smart. To add to that, he is well-liked and respected by all.

— Richard Luong, Senior Art Director, Wunderman (at the time)

“Greg's imagination and ability to drive projects from conceptualization to execution resulted in some really stellar work at Wunderman. Most recently, a project we worked on together for Microsoft called 'The Developer Movement' performed off the charts. In fact, the agency will be submitting it as their digital entry for the CMA's this year. Top-notch writer!”

— Daniel Westgate, Creative Group Head, Wunderman (at the time)

Get to Know Me Better

I’ve always had a passion for the written word and storytelling. My interest only grew in high school with the help of a hilarious but hard-marking English teacher - shoutout to Mr. McKernan. So, when I got to university, it’s perhaps no wonder that I chose English Lit as my major. At the time, I wasn’t thinking about job prospects; I just knew that I loved reading and writing and that was enough.

When I entered the professional world, I spent a few years managing television shows and publishing the odd article before finding my way back to my passion. Friends, who trusted in my abilities, took a chance on me and hired me as a copywriter. I loved it, and better still - I excelled at it.

Since then, I’ve grown professionally. I’ve worked for several agencies and created award-winning work for a plethora of clients. I’ve climbed the ladder from copywriter to senior copywriter to creative director, where I’ve managed and mentored a team of creatives. And I’ve written for just about every format imaginable along with a wide range of sectors, including luxury, tech, fintech, travel, automotive, financial and many more.

When I get some down time, I play in a hobbyist band called ‘The Moms’ made up of advertising professionals in Toronto. I do a little yoga and ride my bike as much as possible to stay in shape. And I spend as much time as I can with friends, family and enjoying the outdoors, up on Georgian Bay.
